Paintings
Vibrant plains of richly applied colour suggest both abstract thought and concrete image. Her paintings stimulate the imagination. She creates the brush strokes your mind fills in the gaps. There is a sensitivity and lyricism found beyond the use of colour, within each vibrant image there is a story and an experience.
“I work on board, canvas or water colour paper. My pallet is an old oven enamel tray or plastic plates. I use acrylics for quick drying and versatility, sometime adding collage, thick or thin oil sticks and fine squeeze bottles for mark making and spray paints can give interesting effects. I work intuitively, not always with a theme in mind but see where my imagination takes me and quite often I am surprised to find my paintings relating to some forgotten or visual experience. Colour has become language interpreting much of what I see and feel and I hope to engage the viewer in a journey of the mind.

Mostly I do not commence a painting with any themes in mind but see where the painting takes me. Thinking time now becomes most important as I paint intuitively. I am quite often surprised to find my painting relating to some forgotten happening or visual experience.
My process is deciding on colours and composition - I love everything about painting - squelching great blobs of colour on canvas - pushing them around with large brushes and hands - mixing the colours on the canvas - large canvases start on the floor - sometimes I pour a little water on the canvas and move the canvas around - because of my experience with colour I mostly know what to expect but there are always surprises and if it works I go with it, keeping in mind my original composition, but often this will change also as I work intuitively and with feelings and my creativity - Iwork fast - first images are the most exciting - time to sit back and contemplate - more than an idea but a theme is forming - more paint - a painting is formulating in my mind - more work perhaps a theme or not.
