Figurative

Figurative

My figurative work is about freedom of movement, enhanced by vibrant costume,  being circus performers, dance of the flamenco, ballet or the more exotic burlesque. I prefer to focus on the more unusual poses, with colour and costume important to my paintings. Often the figures are fragmented, heads, hands and legs not obviously connected and this is my intention - something intriguing for the viewer’s imagination, and a lot of fun for me to paint. The timeless beauty of the female form, whether quickly drawn with charcoal or inks, pastels and wash or acrylics, curvaceous and voluptuous is an ongoing theme for me.
